After 26 years of caring for Eastside families, I began to feel like the system was getting in the way of the medicine. Insurance constraints meant shorter appointments, more paperwork, and less time for the conversations that actually matter. I found myself rushing through visits with patients I’d known for decades — and that didn’t sit right with me.
So I built something different.
Cedar and Stone Medical exists because you deserve a doctor who knows your name, remembers your story, and has time to actually listen. Whether you’re a busy parent juggling kids’ checkups and your own health, an adult who’s tired of waiting weeks for a 10-minute appointment, or someone navigating healthcare without the safety net of insurance — this practice was built for you.

What is Direct Primary Care?
Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a membership-based model where you pay a simple monthly fee directly to your doctor — no insurance middleman. In return, you get unlimited access to your physician for primary care needs, with no copays or surprise bills.
Is this the same as concierge medicine?
Similar idea, but more affordable. Concierge practices often charge much higher fees and still bill your insurance on top. At Cedar and Stone, the monthly membership covers your care — that’s it.
Do I still need health insurance?
We recommend pairing your DPC membership with a low-cost, high-deductible insurance plan or a health-sharing plan to cover hospitalizations, surgeries, or specialist care. Many members find this combination costs less than traditional insurance alone.
What does the monthly membership include?
Unlimited visits with Dr. Spence — in person, by phone, or over video, including:
• Same-day and next-day appointments
• Lab orders, radiology referrals, and specialist referrals when needed
• No copays, ever
Can patients use health savings accounts for direct primary care?
- In a major change, starting January 1, 2026, DPC enrollment no longer disqualifies patients from contributing to a tax-free health savings account. Patients can also use funds from an HSA to pay DPC fees as long as certain conditions exist. Ask for more details.
Do you see children as well as adults?
Yes! Dr. Spence cares for both adults and children, making Cedar and Stone a true family practice.
How quickly can I get an appointment?
Same-day and next-day appointments are available. You can also reach Dr. Spence directly by phone or message — no navigating a phone tree.
When does the practice open?
Cedar and Stone Medical opens July 1, 2026. You can register today and won’t be charged until opening day.
How do I join?
